state-mandated housing
 

Every city in the state is compelled to participate in the State-Mandated Housing Program.  The state needs housing. The City of Agoura Hills is must build an assigned number of high density residences.  This is a current (as of 10/15/21) list of the potential building sites. Notice that most (15 of 20) are south of the 101 freeway in the VHFHSZ that the City of AH shares with the Santa Monica Mountains. 

The City of Agoura Hills has nowhere else to put this housing. The City has appealed to HCD for a lower number of assigned high-density residences but their appeal was denied.
